The Challenge

The parking lot and loading area at Gexpro Services' High Point facility had worn out under years of heavy truck traffic. Seventy-thousand-pound delivery trucks had stressed the subgrade beyond what surface repair could address — especially at the loading dock area, where water drainage concentrated and had further degraded the base. The lot was tight, trucks were still operating throughout the project, and freshly poured concrete on the site — just three days old at the start of paving — required the crew to work around it without applying roller weight that could crack it. Grade management was critical: two drains on opposite sides of the lot required a precise crown to ensure water moved off the property without overloading drainage on the neighboring lot below. What Perry Management needed was a single asphalt paving contractor in High Point capable of handling milling, drainage correction, lot expansion, and ADA work without coordinating separate vendors for each phase.

The Approach

Lambeth Asphalt milled the existing surface first — subcontracting the milling to Gordon and Sons, who handled removal before getting out of the way for the paving crew. At the loading dock, the crew dug down to find solid subgrade, laid sufficient asphalt thickness to handle the turning radius and load weight of heavy delivery trucks, and built the grade to move water toward both drains. A crown was engineered across the lot to split drainage evenly.

Working around the fresh concrete required plate tamping at the edges instead of rolling — keeping the drum off the green slab throughout while still achieving a clean joint line. Where the concrete met the asphalt surface, the crew held a proper drop from curb to asphalt height, right at code, so the final rolled surface would land dead on the money.

Beyond the existing lot, Lambeth built out an additional paved area to expand the loading dock footprint — giving delivery trucks room to turn around efficiently without backing through tight clearances. Entrances were re-graded and tied in square to the building. The ADA handicap ramp at the building entrance was rebuilt and properly set. Striping was coordinated with the striping crew on-site, maximizing parking space count while maintaining clean layout geometry. All asphalt paving services — milling, grading, lot expansion, ramp work, and striping — were handled in-house by Lambeth's crew in High Point, NC.

The Result

Gexpro Services' High Point facility came away with a fully rebuilt parking lot and loading area, an expanded lot purpose-built for delivery truck access, properly graded entrances, a rebuilt ADA ramp, and fresh striping throughout with tons of asphalt laid and every service completed under a single mobilization. For a commercial parking lot in High Point handling 70,000-pound truck traffic daily, that level of scope under a single mobilization is what the property looks like when it's done right.

"Detail is one of our biggest jobs. If you ignore the details, in the end, when you go to showcase it, it'll show. Every detail counts when it comes to finishing the job — and that's ultimately what they look for. Just being able to say, 'Well, they did that without me having to ask.'" — Dock, Lead Foreman

Why It Matters

Perry Management needed a contractor who could handle the full scope of a commercial facility rebuild — milling, paving, lot expansion, grading, ramp work, and striping — without coordinating between multiple vendors or managing sequencing themselves. Lambeth Asphalt handled everything in-house, kept active truck operations moving throughout the project, and added scope mid-job when the customer needed the loading dock expanded. That's the kind of single-call relationship property managers come back to.
